Six Nations Rugby Results 2004

The 2004 Six Nations Championship was the fifth series of the rugby union Six Nations Championship. England had just won the Rugby World cup but they took their eye off the ball and as Clive Woodward pointed out they were suffering from a World cup hangover.

England, the team who had been the most succesful team in the Six nations slipped to third while France stood up and again took the Grand Slam. On paper it looked worse for England as they could have won the Six Nations had they beaten France in France by a relatively small margin. They didn't win and Ireland came second.

When Ireland beat England at Twickenham it was the end of what was known as Fortress Twickenham and England's first loss at Twickenham in four years. It was also the first real sign of England's problems to come.
